Wai Wai’s Noodle Place, Sanchaung, Yangon.

** Wai Wai has now moved their Sanchaung restaurant to U Wisara road in a beautiful Heritage building that dates back over 100 years – 283 U Wisara Road

Living in downtown Yangon, Sanchaung is not a part of town I visit often and so whilst I had heard lots of good things about “Wai Wai’s Noodle Place” from friends, I had never got around to visiting until last week.

Wai Wai’s is not exactly the sort of place you stumble across, being located on a 4th floor rooftop, above “Wai Wai’s Place Bed & Breakfast” at the corner of Shan Kone Street and Thukha Street, just off U-Wisara Road, but the hidden away location simply serves to add to its charm, and we felt a real sense of achievement when we managed to locate it!

We shared a few dishes between us; an unusual Tomato & Sesame Salad, 2 Bowls of very good Shan Noodle Salad, Stir-Fried Greens and  a delicious Pork in Tamarind.  The menu is extremely well priced, with most dishes between 2,000-4,000 kyats and we spent just 14,500 kyats ($10.60) on dinner for 3, which included beers!

Oooh, I love noodles. I should definitely check out that place when I’m in Sanchaung. I hope the restaurant is still there though.
