My Dream Boutique Resort, Luang Prabang, Laos.

As the flight from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang wasn’t going to land until the early evening, I decided that it didn’t make sense to check into my swanky 5 star hotel until the next day and so booked into My Dream Boutique Resort http://www.mydreamresort.com/ for my first night in Laos.

More than a few people in our group came a cropper as a result of the fiery Zanzibari chilli’s - a little goes a long way (it’s the red habaneros you need to watch out for!) #darajanimarket #chillis #chili #spicy #somelikeithot #marketlife #habanero #darajanimarket #zanzibar #stonetown #africa
There are 277 traditional wooden doors, like this, in Stonetown. Doors were used to reflect the owners wealth & status (note the chains & plants that have been engraved around the door - these signify that the original owner was a trader in slaves & spices) as well as their heritage (Arab influence is seen in older square topped doors; the “newer” 19th century doors have curved tops which show Indian influence) whilst the metal spikes are an Indian method to stop elephants from leaning on your house & damaging it 😳 #stonetown #arabic #africa #zanzibar #ihavethisthingwithdoors #architecture #history #door #doorsofstonetown
Mishkaki are an East African meat skewer, marinated in papaya (as a tenderiser) ginger, garlic, tamarind, chilli & turmeric, amongst others. They are a very popular streetfood dish in Zanzibar & BBQ’s like this can be seen on street corners across the country #mishkaki #mshkaki #skewer #brochette #streetfood #eatlocal #stonetown #zanzibar #africa #spices #bbq #lpfood
Traditional East African “Kofia” (Kofia means “hat” in Swahili) a type of flat topped, cylindrical hat, popular in East African countries such as Tanzania & Uganda, at Mchangani Bazaar in Stonetown. The embroidery is filled with tiny holes which allow air to circulate, and the wearer to stay cool 😎 #kofia #mchanganibazaar #hats #hat #bargashia #stonetown #zanzibar #swahili #africa
Fish curry chapati tacos - inspired by the brilliant @anglothai @nud_breddostacos pop up dinner in Yangon recently - on Pingwe beach in Zanzibar. #fishtikka #curry #kingfish #chapati #upendozanzibar #zanzibar #holiday #pingwe #michamvi
When @p.odoch wants prosecco and pasta, you find prosecco & pasta 😂 Thankfully we have the wonderful @baladin.zanzibar next to our hotel, and our dinner last night was so good, it convinced us to come back for lunch again today. The octopus I had yesterday (as part of their seafood platter) was so delicious, I asked if chef would mind doing an octopus pasta for me & to my delight, he agreed 😍 #baladin #baladinzanzibar #bucatini #pasta #octopus #seafood #zanzibar #pingwe #prosecco #holiday #ladieswholunch #michanwi #africa

Dinner at Emerson’s Spice Hotel was a wonderful end to our stay in Stonetown; & this slow cooked Octopus with passion fruit, pineapple & cumin was a standout dish #octopus #zanzibarifood #emersonspicehotel #stonetown #zanzibar #africa #passionfruit
