The Scotch Whisky Experience, Edinburgh, Scotland.

As L had to work, I decided I would spend the afternoon at the Scotch Whisky Experience on the Royal Mile.

For £17 guests get a 50 minute tour of the museum on a fun interactive whisky barrel ride that takes you through the production of Scotch whisky, an introduction to the aromas in whisky with fun scratch and sniff cards, as well as an introduction to the main whisky producing regions of Scotland, the chance to view the worlds largest collection of Scotch whisky, a chance to sample a dram whisky from your chosen region during a tutored tasting, & a crystal whisky tasting glass to take home. For an extra £12.50 (so £29.50) you can try an additional 4 whiskies in the bar after the tour as Membership of the Scotch Whisky Appreciation Society (1 year) & discounts in their bar, restaurant and shop within the membership year.

I enjoyed the whimsical whisky barrel tour, and whilst it wasn’t the most in-depth, it was fun and would be suitable for children to attend (there are discounts for children) and was really impressed with their whisky collection of 3,384 bottles of Scotch Whisky, and enjoyed checking all the labels out, assisted by our guide.

Of course you exit through the gift shop, and I purchased a few more crystal whisky snifters, and some miniatures (aghhhhh why did I travel handbaggage only!) from their impressive collection.
