Margutta 54 Luxury Suites

As I was only going to have one night in Rome, it was important for me to stay in a good central location as I knew it would help me to orient myself as quickly as possible.

A friend suggested I look at Margutta 54, just a stones throw away from the Spanish Steps (which were sadly closed for renovations whilst I was there) and I was immediately sold on the beautiful, spacious room and tranquil location, in a little courtyard that led to the main shopping streets around the Spanish Steps, even more so when I managed to snag a last minute online discount!

As I was arriving on an evening flight and didn’t want to risk being late for my dinner reservations at Roscioli, I decided to pre-book a car from the hotel to pick me up from the airport, impressively priced in line with Uber and similar taxi company quotes I had received. An extravagance at $60 but one I felt worth it for a smooth and speedy, hassle free arrival.

I was impressed with just how well located the hotel really was, just moments form the Spanish Steps metro station, yet the lovely leafy courtyard could not have been more tranquil and relaxing.

After a quick and efficient check in, I was ushered through to my stunning group floor suite where a mini bottle of Prosecco was awaiting me. The room was wonderfully spacious with a separate seating area, ample storage space, desk and gloriously comfy bed.

The bathroom was something else! Double sinks, a walk in rain drop shower and a sunken bath with space for a rugby team (or so it seemed!) as well as plenty of amenities, especially convenient as I had opted to travel with hand-baggage only, thus saving me from having to find a chemist and enabling me to dash off to dinner with time to spare.

The complimentary breakfast was a light affair, mostly consisting of coffee and pastries, perfect to help settle your stomach until its appropriate to eat pizza (which is basically always, lets be honest right?!) and it took a lot of willpower not to jut open the Prosecco and enjoy a glass of bubbles in bed, but with only a morning in Rome before I was due to make my way to Naples, I had no time to spare!
