The Sun, Siem Reap

Owned by (I think) the same people as Café Central, The Sun is another safe option in and around Pub street when you are looking for a few drinks and a bite to eat.

The bright and airy layout is very similar to Café Central, with cosy seats next to the large open windows and a larger space upstairs that opens up entirely to a small balcony making it a lovely place to sit and enjoy the welcome cool breeze.

Brunch is served through until 3pm with the rest of the menu – a mix of local and Asian dishes available alongside the usual suspects of Flatbread Pizza, Pasta, Salads and Sandwiches – available in addition to more substantial Grills and a generous selection of Small Plates and Tapas Dishes that I tend to order from, unless I am having one of their very good veggie burgers that is.

Of the Tapas, I enjoyed the  Fried Aubergine Curry Roulade but found it quite rich. My favourite by far is the rather nice Feta Cheese & Kalamata Olives with chunks of crusty sourdough bread – perfect for enjoying alongside a nice glass of wine. The Sun is also a nice place to go for a relaxed Happy Hour – don’t tell anyone but I quite like their frozen mango daiquiri (everyone needs a disco cocktail every now and again!)

Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more details on happy hour, including their free flow wine nights that pop up from time to time (for the princely sum of $12 per person!)

  1. I love the sound of these tapas!! Even at 11.15 at night after a huge meal, I could happily tuck into a few plates of these rights now xx
