Lake Qu’aroun, Bekaa Valley, Lebanon

Last Summer whilst I was still living in Kuwait, I managed to escape to Lebanon every few weeks or so, mostly to Beirut, but when I visited last August we decided we would escape the humidity of Beirut and head to the Bekaa, specifically Lake Qu’aroun in the South.

We stayed in the Hotel Khreizat which one imagines would have been quite something in the glory days of the 1960’s, but whilst being a little tired now, still retains a certain charm and we were very well looked after by the charming staff.

We spent our days exploring the surrounding areas in almost seclusion, Ramadan and political tensions meant the sleepy villages and towns we visited were completely tranquil and empty of visitors. Here are a few pictures I took of my trip which I look back on with fondness and happy memories.
