Hayete Guesthouse, Beirut

Hayete is a beautiful guesthouse perfectly located in Ashrafieh. http://hayete-guesthouse.com/ I stayed there on my last visit to Beirut back in January when tourists in Beirut are pretty scarce and I was lucky enough to have the 4 room Ottoman era guesthouse to myself for much of my stay. Hayete is not only in a great location but is beautifully decorated and really gives you a sense of the “real” Beirut far more than some glitzy hotel. The rooms were all decently sized, two have en suite bathrooms, the other two share a shower room by the small kitchen. Even in January, when temperatures in Beirut are pretty icy, I spent a good chunk of time on the beautiful sunlit balcony, listening to the chirping bird housed in the living room and the cacophony of car horns, street vendors and building works that only enhance Beirut’s charm.
